{Living in The Parent Trap}

It is officially summer and I am officially, um…. hot. I’ve been channeling all of the energy I can muster (not much) into dreaming about my upcoming vacation. But is it days like this that remind me of summer camp. Long canoe rides, hikes in the mountains, the occasional campfire and a fair amount of time spent lounging in a vintage swimsuit...and no movie brings more nostalgic summer-timey camp goodness to the table than The Parent Trap.

The Parent Trap compilation is put together by amy m. for Design*Sponge.

{Sleep-in Saturday}

Designer Tom Stringer gave this antique chandelier a makeover with white paint. The four-poster bed's headboard is in Ralph Lauren's Coastal Stripe. Featured in the February 2008 issue.

{little houses}

More little white houses-this time as a chandelier. What do you think?

{dodging shadows}

How stinkin' cool is that? What a clever idea for a little kid's (or big kid too) room. Anyone know where to find the applique?

{sunbursts}

Love this idea of taking ceiling medallions for the chandelier and giving them a burst of color to hang on the wall.

{princes galore}

What a great shot. (And that was one lucky photographer!)

Are you a William or Harry girl? :) (Or Charles?) I'm a William girl, but if Harry came to call, I wouldn't toss him out the door. He is a cutie too.

{Sleep-in Saturday}

To create a master bedroom that's romantic and peaceful, designer Alessandra Branca choose a soft color palette. Custom hand-painted wallcovering by de Gournay gives it an old-world feel, while mirrored French doors bring in light.

{low maintenance}

{toy stories}

I'm utterly smitten with the work of artist Aled Lewis — his Toy Stories series is absolutely hilarious. Prints (including others in the same series) are available from his gallery at inPRNT.com, too.

{who do you want to be?}

This campaign, "Become Someone Else" by the Lithuanian Agency called Love for Mint Vinetu is a clever concept, well executed. Here is what they said about it,"When one reads books, he/she starts living it and identifies (or not) with main hero. These print ads for the Mint Vinetu bookstore, which sells lots of classics, focuses on the idea of becoming someone else. And provokes people to try on different personas.

{up in smoke}

I'm fascinated by the work of Italian artist Filippo Minelli — landscape photos featuring a brilliantly coloured cloud hovering mysteriously at the centre of each image. Playful, surreal and beautiful. See more of the series here. (via the jealous curator)

{Sleep-in Saturday}

This bedroom by designer Stephen Shubel is the very essence of spring: birds, flowers and even Sherwin-Williams's Springtime paint on the walls.

{do you have a clue?}

Nancy Drew 80th Anniversary Shirts: No matter how many decades you've been a fan of Nancy Drew, you'll want to celebrate the amateur sleuth's enduring popularity via this snappy T-shirt marking her eightieth anniversary. A portrait of the fictional detective--deep in the contemplation of clues, of course--and "Nancy Drew: 80 years and still has the answers" appear in blue on the front of the loose-fit, ladies-cut, heather gray T-shirt. Printed, also in blue, on the back of the shirt is a little magnifying-glass icon and a short excerpt from Nancy's Mysterious Letter: "Do act mysterious, it always keeps them coming back for more!" Choose the long- or short-sleeved tee, in sizes S, M, L, XL, or XXL. From Bas Bleu!

{stacking is the tip-off}

The April issue of Matchbook Magazine is out and I've been poring over every page. There's a wonderful story about Minnie Mortimer (her family is considered New York royalty.) She's married to Oscar winning writer/director Stephen Gaghan, who did Syriana and Traffic.

Their Los Angeles home is amazing, but their library is beyond wonderful. It's stylish, but in the way true bibliophiles' collections are stylish--an arrangement that evokes both care for the books and their frequent use. Stacking is the tip-off!(Photo from Matchbook Magazine.)

{collage art}

The two artists from Melbourne are the publishers of zines and books, spotlighting their compositions of curious and colorful things. Their art is the visual equivalent of marzipan. LOVE!!! (Even more on Gracia & Louise's Flickr page.)
